On her 7th birthday, now 13-year-old Deborah Helder received a little keyboard from her parents. This inspired her to start playing the piano. Soon thereafter she began taking lessons with Richard Lacle. After three years of study, she was accepted at the Da Vinci Academy and is now studying with Armand Simon.
Deborah won First Prize at the 2011 Crescendo Piano Competition, which is a part of the Aruba Piano Festival. This officially makes her the youngest winner in the history of the festival.
She goes to school at Colegio Arubano and is currently in second grade. When she has finished doing her homework she always runs immediately to the piano and starts to play for hours. Her favorite composer is Mozart and playing piano is her passion.
